Are there any risks?

Like any other effective therapy, infertility treatment also involves certain risks:

1) Multiple Pregnancies
We limit the number of embryos transferred inside the uterine cavity to one, two, very seldom three embryos. Therefore our twin and triplet rates are extremely low.

2) Hyperfunction of the Ovaries
Hormonal treatment can lead to a hyperfunction of the ovaries. Fluid can collect in the abdominal cavity, patients complain of pain and nausea.
In very rare cases these problems become so severe that clinical monitoring is necessary.

3) Surgical Risk
Every surgical intervention bears a certain risk. The same applies for a possibly necessary anaesthesia. However, these risks are potentially low.

4) Pregnancy Risks
The risk of complications during pregnancy or health problems concerning the child in pregnancies achieved with medical help is not any higher than in naturally conceived ones.
